Ulamog, the Defiler
Eldrazi struggle in a 4-man pod of cEDH. While Eldrazi, especially titans, have powerful cast triggers, they usually ever only affect one player. Instead of bringing the caster a victory, Eldrazi really just destroy someone else's game. They are the ultimate kingmakers. However, in 1v1 formats such as modern, Eldrazi tribals, such as Tron and Ramp, have consistently been listed among the Tier 1 decks. A 1v1 commander format with the unbanning of mana crypt and jeweled lotus heavily favor Eldrazi. While the deck has combo's, even just casting Ulamog, the Defiler can exile many of the opponents important pieces, leaving them with a broken deck and giving you a path to victory. In short, the power of Eldrazi in 1v1 as opposed to 4-man free-for-all is night and day. The game plan consists of two crucial parts. 1. Set the tempo and lock down the game using stax pieces (trinisphere, chalice of the void, torpor orb, winter orb, etc...). 2. Ramp into Ulamog, the Defiler or other Eldrazi Titans in order to seal the game away. Future Unbans The unbanning of Sundering Titan, Emrakul the Aeons Torn, Black Lotus, and Paradox Engine would affect the current decklist Potential Changes Chalice of the Void and Disruptor Flute. While amazing in modern Tron, unsure if they will perform at an adequate level in a singleton format, especially since your own deck will suffer much more from a Chalice than a Tron deck in modern would. Weaknesses This deck has very little traditional interaction such as removal and counter spells. This is why tax pieces are so important. For example, many competitive cards have etb's and activated abilities which loop. However, torpor orb shuts these off. In addition, if you can drop some fast mana rocks on turn 1 and then resolve trinisphere or chalice, you can lock the game down and forego the need for early game counterspells.
