Magus Lucea Kane
Magus Lucea Kane — Infinite Mana / X-Spell Combo Primer Overview This is a Temur turbo-combo deck built around mana dorks, repeatable untap effects, and X spells. While Magus Lucea Kane looks like an X-spell commander, the real engine of the deck is her ability to turn ordinary mana creatures into enormous mana producers while simultaneously doubling the tutors and payoffs that use that mana. Lucea does two important things: At the beginning of combat, she puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature. She taps for {C}{C} and causes the next spell with X in its mana cost or ability with X in its activation cost that turn to be copied. The basic plan is: Ramp → establish a mana creature → establish an untapper → make infinite mana → convert infinite mana into cards or damage. The deck can win without Lucea, but Lucea greatly increases its consistency because cards like Chord of Calling, Nature's Rhythm, Finale of Devastation, Green Sun's Zenith, and Invasion of Ikoria become double tutors. The Three Parts of the Combo Most wins involve some combination of these three categories. Mana creatures Birds of Paradise Bloom Tender Incubation Druid Kami of Whispered Hopes Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy Mona Lisa, Science Geek Selvala, Heart of the Wilds Untappers Freed from the Real Pemmin's Aura Vigean Graftmage Formidable Speaker provides additional utility untapping Freed from the Real and Pemmin's Aura both allow the enchanted creature to untap for {U}. Vigean Graftmage can pay {1}{U} to untap any creature with a +1/+1 counter. It also enters with two +1/+1 counters and can move one of those counters onto another creature when that creature enters. Infinite-mana outlets Valakut Invoker Walking Ballista Comet Storm Rolling Thunder Thrasios, Triton Hero Drown in Dreams Stroke of Genius Pull from Tomorrow Even the Score Diviner's Portent Wan Shi Tong, Librarian Finale of Devastation

# Magus Lucea Kane — Infinite Mana Combo Primer
This is a Temur mana-dork combo deck disguised as an X-spell deck. Lucea supports both halves of the strategy: her combat trigger puts +1/+1 counters on mana creatures, while her mana ability copies your next X spell or X-activated ability.
The core plan is:
Ramp → mana dork → untapper → infinite mana → draw/tutor → win.
Lucea is especially powerful with X tutors because Chord of Calling, Nature's Rhythm, Finale of Devastation, Green Sun's Zenith, and Invasion of Ikoria can effectively tutor twice.
# Combo Engines
Vigean Graftmage + Incubation Druid
Result: Infinite blue mana.
Vigean Graftmage + Kami of Whispered Hopes
Result: Infinite blue mana.
These are particularly important because they work without Freed/Pemmin's and can be assembled by a copied X tutor.
Both Auras let you pay U to untap the enchanted creature.
With Lucea in play:
Bloom Tender → GUR → pay U to untap → net GR
Result: Infinite green/red mana.
Give Druid a +1/+1 counter with Lucea:
Druid → UUU → pay U → net UU
Result: Infinite blue mana.
Lucea's counter becomes two counters because of Kami:
Kami becomes 3 power → UUU → pay U → net UU
Result: Infinite blue mana.
Give Mona Lisa one Lucea counter:
2 power → UU → pay U → net U
Result: Infinite blue mana.
Have a creature with at least 3 power:
Activate Selvala → make 3+ mana → pay G + U each loop
Result: Infinite mana.
# Kinnan Combos
Kinnan adds an additional mana whenever a nonland permanent is tapped for mana, so Freed/Pemmin's becomes infinite with almost any dork capable of producing blue.
Kinnan + Freed/Pemmin's +:
For the basic version:
Dork makes U → Kinnan adds U → pay U to untap → net U.
Result: Infinite blue mana.
Kinnan + Selvala also works because Selvala can make three mana from Kinnan's 2 power while each loop costs only GU.
# Copied X-Tutor Combo
This is the deck's most important line.
With Lucea active, cast one of these for X = 3:
Use Lucea's copy to find:
Vigean Graftmage
Then use the original to find:
Incubation Druid or Kami of Whispered Hopes
Because Vigean enters first, the second creature receives the Graft counter and completes the infinite-mana engine.
Incubation Druid/Kami normally has summoning sickness.
Solve this with:
Expedite / Chaos Charm / Fever Charm
Only the mana dork needs haste.
Chord has the cleanest version:
Opponent's end step → Lucea + Chord X=3 → Vigean + Druid/Kami → untap → infinite mana.
No haste spell is required.
Finale supplies haste itself:
Lucea → Finale X≥10 → Vigean + Druid/Kami → haste → infinite mana immediately.
# Green Sun's Zenith
Lucea copies GSZ, but it can only find green creatures.
A useful X=2 line is:
Kinnan + Incubation Druid
Then:
Freed/Pemmin's on Druid → infinite mana.
Other useful targets include Bloom Tender, Kami, Mona Lisa, Selvala, Thrasios, and Birds of Paradise.
# Infinite Lucea Activations
If you already have infinite blue mana and Lucea has a +1/+1 counter:
Infinite mana + Vigean Graftmage + Lucea
You can create arbitrarily many copy triggers for your next X spell.
# Winning With Infinite Mana
8: Deal 3 damage to any target.
Activate repeatedly to kill the table.
This is one of the best outlets because it doesn't tap and can be put directly onto the battlefield after going infinite.
Cast Ballista with enormous X and remove its counters to kill everyone.
With Lucea active, the Ballista spell is also copied.
Important: don't tutor Ballista directly onto the battlefield—it will enter with X=0. Get it into your hand and cast it instead.
Put an enormous amount into X and deal lethal damage to the table.
Lucea copies either spell.
With Lucea, the original and copy can distribute massive draw/mill effects among opponents and deck the table.
Activate Thrasios repeatedly to draw through your library, then find:
Valakut Invoker / Ballista / Comet Storm / Rolling Thunder / Drown in Dreams
Stroke of Genius, Pull from Tomorrow, Even the Score, Diviner's Portent, and Wan Shi Tong convert huge or infinite mana into cards, allowing you to draw into a deterministic outlet.
# Tutor Guide
Drift of Phantasms → MV 3
Important targets:
If you're already infinite, Valakut Invoker is usually the easiest kill.
Formidable Speaker
Can find any creature for your hand, especially:
# Mulligan
Look for:
2–3 mana sources + acceleration + tutor/engine + protection.
Strong starts include:
Birds / Halfling / fast mana → stronger dork or Kinnan → Lucea → copied X tutor.
You generally don't need a win condition in your opening hand because the deck can find one after generating infinite mana.
# Combo Cheat Sheet
Vigean + Incubation Druid Counter → UUU → pay 1U → ∞ U
Vigean + Kami Graft becomes 2 counters → UUU → pay 1U → ∞ U
Lucea + Bloom Tender + Freed/Pemmin's GUR → pay U → ∞ G/R
Lucea + Incubation + Freed/Pemmin's Counter → UUU → pay U → ∞ U
Lucea + Kami + Freed/Pemmin's Counter becomes two → UUU → pay U → ∞ U
Lucea + Mona Lisa + Freed/Pemmin's 2 power → UU → pay U → ∞ U
Lucea + Selvala + Freed/Pemmin's 3+ power → make 3+ → pay GU → ∞ mana
Kinnan + blue-producing dork + Freed/Pemmin's Dork produces 2 through Kinnan → pay U → ∞ U
Lucea + X=3 Tutor Vigean + Incubation/Kami → haste or untap → ∞ U
# Primary Win Line
The line to remember is:
Lucea → copied X tutor for X=3 → Vigean + Incubation Druid/Kami → infinite mana → Valakut Invoker/Ballista/X spell.
Once infinite mana is established:
Valakut available? Kill everyone. Ballista in hand? Kill everyone. Damage X-spell? Kill everyone. Thrasios or X draw spell? Draw until you find one.
That is the deck's fundamental engine: turn one X tutor into the entire infinite-mana combo, then convert that mana into a deterministic win.
